Four real-world laboratories for networked e-mobility

The research project “unIT-e² – Real-world laboratory for networked e-mobility” developed innovative solutions for the market- and grid-friendly integration of electric vehicles. Intelligent charging and control concepts were researched and tested in practice in four real-world laboratories across Germany.

The focus was on:

The four field trials took place in Munich, Düsseldorf, eastern Bavaria, Lower Saxony and northern Hesse. Real-life usage scenarios were tested – from private and commercial charging to district solutions and fleet management strategies.

The consortium is led by FfE Munich. unIT-e² is creating a future-proof, flexible and user-friendly charging infrastructure that intelligently integrates electromobility into the power grid. 29 partners from the automotive industry, the energy sector, IT and science – including BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Tennet and Bayernwerk – worked together on a future-proof charging infrastructure.
