Innovative shore power supply in the port of Würzburg
Würzburger Hafen GmbH (WHG) offers an environmentally friendly alternative to diesel power with a new shore power solution for cargo ships. Ships can easily and conveniently obtain electricity from renewable energy sources via intelligent plug cabinets controlled by WAGO controllers.
Easy to use via web app
Ship crews can start the supply via QR code scan and pay conveniently by credit card or PayPal. Depending on requirements, CEE connections with 16/32/63A are available.
Sustainability and innovation
The project reduces noise, vibrations and CO₂ emissions while increasing comfort for staff. In 2019, 839,000 kWh of green electricity was already used at the Würzburg berths, saving 605 tons of CO₂.
Proven solution for other ports
Thanks to funding from the Free State of Bavaria, the system will also be made available to other ports as a turnkey solution. The port of Würzburg is thus establishing itself as a pioneer in sustainable inland shipping.
